Louise likes model railways. She especially likes to build little towns.
There are thousands of houses, factories, vehicles, bridges, etc. available,
even a cemetery, all built to the proper scale of the railway. One such
building found in a catalogue was “the burning IRS building.”
A burning Internal Revenue Service (IRS) building? Why would Americans want
to burn down an IRS building? Would Canadians want to burn down the Canada
Revenue Agency (CRA)? Probably not. The reason lies in the difference
between the two countries.
Americans, by and large, look upon taxation as being forced upon them
against their will, something which somehow infringes on their freedom to
amass fortunes as they feel fit without the interference of the government.
Canadians, although they endevour to pay as little tax as possible, look
upon taxation as a payment for services: health care, roads, education,
policing, etc. So, there is little or no desire to burn down the CRA
